Tennis

Tennis Anyone?

Paddington Sports Club is unique in many ways, but not least that it welcomes tennis players of all ages and ability. If you are new to the sport or a seasoned player, there is a place for you to come and SERVE it up at our club!

With the club running specially-tailored leagues for all of our members, even the most inexperienced tennis player will find an appropriate league to continue their development in the sport and as a result, will LOVE playing tennis with someone who is at a similar level to them.

Our top of the range facilities boasts ten all-weather courts, seven surfaced in acrylic and three exceptional artificial clay surfaces which allows the continuation of play even in wet conditions!

Five courts also have floodlights which means you can continue improving your backhand and forehand skills until 22:00, even in the unpleasant winter season.

In addition, Paddington Sports Club also has numerous skilled and LTA qualified coaches to help aid members who are novices in the sport or develop the skills of those wishing to return to the sport.

Our highly experienced coaches also provide flexible lesson times to fit in with busy work schedules, which is incredibly ACE!

For tennis players who have a competitive streak instilled in them and want to compete at a higher level, the club has six tennis teams representing them up to county standard.

Keen individuals who may have missed out on the opportunity to represent the club in the past can still do so, as the tennis area operates a club ladder which helps grade players of similar skill level and co-ordinates matches to help hone that competitive edge to your play.

The order of play begins from 8:00 until 22:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00 until 22:00 Saturday to Sunday.

Mini Tennis Red:

For players aged 7 and under. The Mini Red level is for children who have previously played on small courts with short rackets and softballs. It is just like the real game and it provides children with an opportunity to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

Mini Tennis Orange:

For players aged 8 and 9.  The Mini Orange level is a fantastic way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and the courts are bigger and wider compared to the red level. However, the courts are still smaller than full-size tennis courts which will allow players to develop a rounded game while learning a range of techniques and tactics.

Mini Tennis Green:

For players aged 10-11. The Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full-size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It is the next stage before moving onto full compression yellow balls on a full-sized court and enables children to develop and improve on all aspects of their game.

Yellow Ball:

Using ‘adult’ balls for children aged 11 and over. The yellow ball focuses on combining the basics of forehand, backhand, serve & volley into match-play situations.

Junior Tennis High-Performance:

The junior tennis high-performance group is by invitation only, for those who are looking to play competitive tennis at a higher level.

Please note that there is a high demand for our classes and we cannot guarantee acceptance.
