Junior Tennis Programme

Paddington Sports Club’s junior tennis programme provides the perfect introduction to the sport for children aged between three and a half and 11+.

Use the power of sport to help your child develop in an inclusive and nurturing environment, where they can learn and flourish through the mentoring of our experienced coaches.

With the club well represented in the Middlesex junior leagues, there are also regular inter-club tournaments and we encourage all our youngsters to participate in as many LTA tournaments as they can.

We also offer the following classes all year round, with the autumn term commencing on Monday 7th September until Saturday 19th December with a week break for the half-term scheduled to take place from Monday 26th October until Friday 30th October.

Mini Tennis Red:

For players aged 7 and under. The Mini Red level is for children who have previously played on small courts with short rackets and softballs. It is just like the real game and it provides children with an opportunity to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

Mini Tennis Orange:

For players aged 8 and 9.  The Mini Orange level is a fantastic way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and the courts are bigger and wider compared to the red level. However, the courts are still smaller than full-size tennis courts which will allow players to develop a rounded game while learning a range of techniques and tactics.

Mini Tennis Green:

For players aged 10-11. The Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full-size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It is the next stage before moving onto full compression yellow balls on a full-sized court and enables children to develop and improve on all aspects of their game.

Yellow Ball:

Using ‘adult’ balls for children aged 11 and over. The yellow ball focuses on combining the basics of forehand, backhand, serve & volley into match-play situations.
